Secret Knowledge
The contributors to Endtimes.org claim no special secret knowledge or personal revelation and we believe this to be a critical point. We only claim that a fair and consistent reading of the Bible will reveal the intended meaning and purpose of the Endtimes, and a lot of details. Revelation 1:3 says “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
It wouldn’t be much of a blessing if we couldn’t understand it. The implication is that we can.
When interpreted literally, the message is clear – there is coming a day when God will interrupt and invade history to make an end of evil and judge the world. Just as J.R. Tolkien pictured in The Lord of the Rings, there are forces for good in the world, and this evil system will be conquered, in this case by the King of Kings. We will show this on our page called The First Prophecy.
So why is the subject of Endtimes so speculative?
It is true that prophecy sometimes uses symbolism. Our task is to get to the real meaning. Even if the imagery in a passage contains symbolism, the events being foretold are literal as they always are in the Bible and the purpose is clear. Unfortunately the practice of spiritualizing prophecy – finding hidden meanings or discounting any literal meaning has caused a lot of confusion and may allow people to fabricate their own private interpretations. This is inconsistent with previously fulfilled Old Testament prophecies of the Bible, which were always fulfilled literally. When God said that the southern kingdom of Judah would be taken captive in Babylon for 70 years… lo and behold, it lasted 70 years, and the book of Daniel describes those years in Babylon. When God said through the prophet Micah (700 years before Jesus was born) that his son would be born in Bethlehem, and he was born in Bethlehem, there was no need to jump through any hoops to figure it out, and surely the Jews didn’t think that was allegory. It was literal, and Endtimes prophecies also have a literal fulfillment. It is the chronology that is often the challenge.
Matthew 2 – “When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born. 5They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea”
When taken as a whole, the Bible speaks plainly and consistently about God’s purposes, the big picture, and provides lots of details around the key endtimes events.
In conclusion, there is no secret knowledge for some elite group of intellectuals – super Jews or Christians. The story is plainly stated, and we will show that. It is true that spiritual truth requires illumination from God, something we need to pray for.
